True Aim Bookkeeping – Focused & Trustworthy

True Aim Bookkeeping serves small business owners with monthly bookkeeping, personalized training, and even provides resources to help owners perform their own bookkeeping. Trisha, the Founder of True Aim Bookkeeping is a busy mom of 2 who is a nurse by trade with a teaching background, Trisha focuses on serving the medical, healthcare, and wellness industries, but also offers her services to other small businesses.
Can you share why you started True Aim Bookkeeping?
I took care of my grandfather for 4 years. It was great! My kids got to regularly fish and play Rummy with their great-grandpa and I was able to take care of someone close to me. However, after my grandfather passed away, I wasn’t sure what I was going to do.
Besides mourning someone dear to me, I needed a career that allowed me to continue to homeschool my children yet allowed me to serve and help others. That’s when God led me to bookkeeping!
I am now able to help businesses with a very critical (and often confusing and frustrating) part of their business so that they can focus on customer and employee satisfaction. They will now have time to grow their business like they always dreamed.
Why did you choose to focus on healthcare and wellness with True Aim Bookkeeping?
I am a nurse, so I “specialize” in medical bookkeeping. All medical, healthcare, and wellness companies need their bookkeeping done on a monthly basis. Many have others within their business to do bookkeeping however, these employees do not specialize in this, and are doing it along with tons of other tasks.
Outsourcing your bookkeeping to a specialist can benefit your company tremendously. Plus, it may feel a little more comfortable having someone who understands the medical field taking care of your bookkeeping as well.
Should small businesses employ a bookkeeper?
Outsourcing bookkeeping saves every business owner time, stress, and potential financial errors. By having a professional on board, they can ensure their financial records are accurate, stay tax-ready year-round, and avoid costly mistakes.
Bookkeepers should save owners money and therefore pay for themselves. Plus, you can write off the money you pay bookkeepers on taxes as a business expense.
If I’m just starting out in business, can I do my own bookkeeping?
Doing your own bookkeeping as a new business owner is definitely possible, and it can be a cost-effective way to manage your finances in the early stages. However, it requires careful attention to detail and consistency in tracking every transaction, from income and expenses to bank reconciliations.
You’ll need to stay organized and ensure your records are up-to-date monthly, which can be challenging but is crucial for the success of your business and to know where your business stands so that you can make informed business decisions.
To help small business owners get started, I have a user-friendly Google Sheets resource that will guide them through the basics of tracking their finances until they’re ready to hire a professional bookkeeper. This resource can help you stay on top of your transactions, giving you a clearer understanding of your financial health.
When you’re ready to take the next step, and ready to transition to more advanced bookkeeping software, I also offer monthly bookkeeping through QuickBooks Online (QBO) as well as training if you want to continue to do your own bookkeeping, as well as a comprehensive QBO guide that will walk you through the setup process and key features, making it easier to manage your books efficiently and confidently.
Whether you’re starting small or planning for growth, these resources will give you the foundation you need to succeed.
What’s one piece of advice for moms just starting their business?
Starting a business requires organization, patience, and a willingness to celebrate the little wins along the way. Prioritizing a solid bookkeeping system from the start—whether using software or hiring a bookkeeper—will save you time and stress down the road.
Remember to stay persistent and not let setbacks discourage you. Celebrate each small victory and recognize that you’re building something valuable with each step. This will keep you motivated and moving forward.
